A very old Chronicle column, from before I was born. So though I wasn’t even around for it, I’m still gonna take issue. I think the city’s name is pronounced, roughly, “Sanrincisco”. That’s what I tend toward anyway.
Worth a read if you’re from San Francisco. The observation that SF natives say “Yeah?” a lot instead of “Is that right?” is interesting. I used to get hell for this in college, in San Diego, where everyone talks like an idiot as a rule.
Soulja Boy “Stop Kony”
The irony here is so obvious it’s hardly worth pointing out: Soulja Boy vs. the Child Army. But this song has its merits, however few. At least when he self-promotes it’s recognizable as such.
Let’s say a politician comes up with an ingenious plan that would ensure universal health care while decreasing health care costs.
According to Dunning-Kruger, no matter how much information is provided, the unsophisticated would 1) be incapable of recognizing the wisdom of such a plan; 2) assume they know better; and 3) have no idea of the extent of their inadequacy.
