E-40 “Get What You Need”
This new Turf Sinatra mixtape reminded me of another Vallejo rapper, Mac Shawn, who did a song called “Mac Sinatra”, which was a bit of a hit with me and my buddies in high school. It was off of this otherwise sorta shitty compilation called, in all seriousness, Worldwide Bosses and Playaz. There are like two artists not from Vallejo on it. More like Marine World-wide Bosses and Playaz, amirite? Okay, probably only people from the Bay Area would get that.
The best track, other than “Mac Sinatra”, is this somewhat #rare E-40 track, which has become one of my favorites of his. Best line? “Stay right down the street from Paul from the Diamond Center.”
If you do the math, though, that would have to be true. Vallejo’s population is about 115,000, and think of all the slap! Other contenders:
Staten Island, NY (451,000)
Compton, CA (94,000)
Amityville, NY (9,400) — depends on whether you think De La slaps, though. They do.
So I was asked to do this, and found that making lists is very, very difficult, especially when you have so many things that need to be on the list, and so many things you want to put on the list. I think I struck a decent balance here, though it was very, very difficult, as I mentioned above.
These things always draw a ton of hate, so pile on!
I just googled “manistevstivity” to see if anyone else has tried to make sense of this word — I suspect Cam was too stoned to say manifest destiny — but it turns out I might be the only person to have ever written this word on the internet.
